What is GKS?
GKS
The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) is given by the Korean government to international students for either undergraduate or graduate studies. The scholarship covers all the intuition fees, trip to and from Korea, monthly allowance, as well as other expenses.
The scholarship includes 1 year of Korean studies before entering your preferred university, unless you have TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) level 5 or 6. In other words, if you already have level 5 or 6, you are able you skip the Korean course and go straight to studying your major.
The scholarship period typically looks something like this:
Bachelor's Degree: 1 year language course + 4~6 years of undergraduate courses
Master's Degree: 1 year language course + 2 year degree courses
Doctoral Degree: 1 year language course + 3 year degree courses
However, depending on your situation, you can apply for an extra semester if you have trouble graduating.
